Acrobatic wooden Automaton. This is a beautiful hand-made, hand-painted/ paper on wood toy, made in Germany. The small wooden figures performs a series of flips as they descends down the steps due to gravity. They are lovely painted and nicely carved. The figures are dressed original,fabric trimmed with Dresden paper. The hats are carved wood. The stairs are actually formed as you fold up the box, ( the box has a drawer, that the acrobats can be stored. ( See last picture) Excellent condition all over. Germany 1850. Measurements: Measurements: Size of the box, when closed: H. L. 26 cm x H.8 cm x W. 6,75 cm/10" x 3-1/4"" x 2-2/3" Size of box set up as steps for performing: L.28 cm x 10 cm x 6,75 cm / 11" x 4" x 2-2/3" Size of dolls: H. 8 cm. Bars L. 14,5 cm/ 3 1/4" x 5-3/4" Pristine condition.

Lehmann “Mikado Family” lady w/baby in coolie cart Known as EPL 350, this early toy from 1894 to 1918 depicts an oriental man pulling a rickshaw with a seated woman rocking a baby in her arms. Handpainted. It operates by string drive and was designed for the man’s legs to alternate as if walking as the toy moves along. The Lehmann logo and name are stamped into the metal, not painted on.
