Mandarin in the early version with hand painted coolies. Made by Lehmann before 1920 in Brandenburg. This windup toy features two coolies walking along with natural leg motion carrying a man seated in a highly decorated box. The man in the box is holding the pigtail of the front coolie, presumably confirming his superior social status. Wind up. Working fine.Very good condition Only minor wear. What a lovely Grandmother in dollhouse scale.She has a finely painted face that includes lines to suggest wrinkles, and a gray painted hairstyle with a bun and a black ribbon. On her original body that is fitted with perfect bisque limbs, she wears a dress, that is typical for the period. Also notice her shoes with heels and blue painted stockings! Germany ca 1910-20. H. 5,5" / 14 cm.
