Wonderful handpainted tin toy from Hans Eberl ca 1905. : Clown with singing goose. Rare toy, original condition. The colours of the figures are original. Some paint loss. The function is excellent.

They are crude in one way and sophisticated in another. Martin''''''''s genius was to observe everyday people and transform them into toys. Many times toys are made for children but with adults in mind. The subtleties would be lost on a child. This is an early toy figure of a drunkard, with painted face, grey top hat with the Martin mark, a bottle and cup, with permanent key, black metal feet, check trousers and plain tunic (some wear and tear). Handgemaltes auffallendes Blechspielzeug mit Uhrwerkantrieb der Firma Günthermann, Deutschland um 1905. Zwei handgemalte Figuren in einer Szene. Ein Violine spielender Mann sitzt mit seinem Instrument. Vor ihm steht eine Blechfigur als Ballerina gekleidet. Wenn aufgezogen, spielt das Spielzeug “Pling-plong”-Musik. Der Violinespieler spielt auf seinem Instrument und der die Tänzerin tanzt vor ihm. Sehr schöner Zustand. Altersspuren. Sehr charmant. Länge 22 cm, Höhe. 22 cm. Deutschland um 1905.

This Lehmann "Ajax" toy was Patented 1903, this one ca 1914. The most articulated of all the Lehmann toys which uses a very complicated mechanism. It shows a warrior with clubs standing on long slats turning a somersault while fully extending. These came with two different kind of clothing and were expensive toys at the time. This one is the striped clothing version. Stands 10" ( 25 cm). Wind up, all original clothing and working fine.( Patent EPL 659) Very good condition. Some minor schratces due to age.
